The Lake Albert Bushfire Brigade was founded in 1902 and is the second oldest bushfire brigade in New South Wales. The brigade surrounds the eastern and southern portions of the City of Wagga Wagga taking over 600 properties ranging from a few acres to several thousand acres.

The brigade is in the process of completing a new fire station located on the corner of Gregadoo Road and Butterbush Road. The station is not quite completed yet. Brigade property owners have been key contributors to the station with the land being donated by Dick and Maisie Nash and the internal construction labour partially donated by TAFE. Local businesses have made significant donations, the Rural Fire Service is covering a major portion of the cost and countless hours have been donated by active members.
